In the wake of the landmark Giggle v Tickle appeal decision, conservative politicians from a variety of parties are suddenly desperately trying to convince you they care about women’s rights. Better late than never I guess?

An appeal against the landmark Giggle v Tickle has been dismissed by the Federal Court this afternoon, with the Court setting aside the original finding of indirect discrimination in favour of direct discrimination.

The highly publicised Giggle v Tickle appeal decision will be announced on Friday May 15th. In the lead up, it’s worth looking at the wealthy conservative Christian, anti-LGBTQ and anti-women’s rights organisation involved in the case who are backing Giggle.

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has tweeted about the upcoming decision of the highly publicised Giggle v Tickle legal battle, expressing support for Giggle for Girls app and its founder, anti-trans campaigner Sall Grover. The decision will be announced on Friday 15th May.

Queensland psychiatrist Dr Jillian Spencer was allegedly removed by security from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists Congress in Melbourne after holding up a sign during a keynote address protesting the suspension of embattled psychiatrist Dr Andrew Amos.

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) has recently been in the firing line from conservative media publication The Australian. The Australian has written several articles in the past month criticising the agency and its ties to LGBTQIA+ health organisation ACON, their censuring of anti-trans doctors, and the registration of a trans doctor – making the claim that the regulator is “captured” by the “powerful trans lobby”.

LGBTQIA+ advocates in Tasmania are sounding the alarm over the proposed sale of Hobart Private Hospital, warning it could effectively shut down access to gender-affirming healthcare in the state.

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) has suspended embattled Queensland psychiatrist Andrew Amos, who was recently banned from social media for anti-trans comments by Ahpra, the regulator for Australian medical practitioners.

Although they’re celebrating it as a “definite win”, yesterday’s decision to allow the Lesbian Action Group an appeal to ban transgender women from their events is anything but.

A tribunal ruling that the Lesbian Action Group couldn’t exclude transgender women from its events has been set aside by the Federal Court. The matter will now be remitted back to the Administrative Review Tribunal for consideration.
